Prayers for the Waiting

For the days when you have the words, and the days when you don't.

Waiting can leave us unsure of what to pray. Sometimes we have so many words that we don't know where to begin. Other days, we can barely find the words at all.

These are the prayers I return to in this season of waiting. Prayers for surrender, for hope, for my future child, and for the days when the ache feels especially heavy.

My hope is that these words might help you bring your own heart to Jesus, wherever you are in your wait.

Catholic Prayers and Devotions

Traditional prayers and devotions, along with prayers to Mary and the saints, to help us grow closer to Jesus and entrust our lives to God.

Mary, Our Lady of Waiting

Mary, Our Lady of Waiting,

You know the ache of longing and the patience of hope. You waited for the angel's word to be fulfilled, for the Messiah to be born, for your Son to begin His mission, for His Passion and Resurrection, and for His return as King of Glory.

You understand the silence, the uncertainty, and the surrender that waiting requires. Teach me to wait with faith and trust, as you did. Unite your prayers with mine as I bring to God the desires of my heart. When I grow weary in the waiting, remind me that Christ is faithful, and that every moment of waiting is an invitation to grow in love.

Be my companion in this season of expectation. Carry my hopes into the presence of your Son, and help me to rest in the promise that He will come—in His time, in His way, and with His grace.

Amen

Our Lady of Waiting, pray for us, that we may await God's will with faith, hope, and love.
